Guitar Instruction

Making music with Zach has made me a better musician. His ear, his playing, and his commitment to finding what is best for the song has elevated my game as an artist and guitar player. Couldn’t ask for a better brother in arms.

My love for guitar, and for music in general, has inspired me to teach at various points in my career. Now that Covid-19 has grounded tour plans for the foreseeable future, I’ve been able to reignite my teaching practice. I love helping others learn about guitar, songwriting, music theory, music business and song production, and now that I’m not traveling as much, i’ve got time to dedicate to my students!

My Teaching Philosophy…

With each student, I strive to teach through your inspiration. My experience has taught me that the most successful students LOVE practicing — they love any excuse to pick up the instrument. They move through the various physical or mental challenges that the guitar throws at them with grace and aplomb fueled by their own inspiration. I get to know where each student’s passions lie when it comes to music, favorite songs, favorite guitar players, influences, preferences, models, etc. The more I can be like a sherpa guiding you to the top of your personal mountain, the more effective each lesson can be.

My Lesson Policies

Most students prefer the Monthly Subscription:

  • $300 for 4 lessons per month*

  • a full month’s subscription payment is required on the first lesson of each month

  • digital payments preferred. Paper check payment available, if payment is RECEIVED BEFORE the first month’s lesson

  • each lesson is 40 minutes + a 10 minute Q&A period

  • lessons are typically available Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday; in 1-hour blocks from 1-6pm. Other lesson times can be arranged, please request your preferred time-slot to see if it can be accommodated

 * Yes, some months will provide for 5 weeks of lessons. On those months, the fifth lesson is optional and is available for free with your subscription. Some students prefer to take that week off; but if you elect to do the lesson, there is no additional cost on that month.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation of a lesson must be made AT LEAST 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson to be eligible for a make-up slot. Make-up lessons should be scheduled at the time of cancellation, or up until 24 hours prior to student’s normal lesson time. If no make-up times can be agreed upon due to conflicting schedules, the student may take a $50 credit into the next month. In special cases, should the student need to take a break, the remaining lessons will be banked for a period of 3 months. Unused lessons after that time will be forfeited. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice are forfeited. There are NO refunds for unused or forfeited lessons.

Make-Up Lessons:

Ideally, make-up lessons should be scheduled at the time of cancellation. Make-up lessons will ideally be scheduled within the same week, before the student’s next lesson. If schedules don’t permit, the student may elect to take an 80-minute lesson with a 20-minute Q&A period, the following week, to make up the time with a double lesson. Make-up lessons not used within a 30-day period from the original canceled lessons will expire / be forfeited..
