Celebrating a Hero, Gerry Beckley

My home label, Blue Élan Records, recently approached my partner, Zack Darling and myself to produce a handful of singles. They wanted to celebrate their artist, Gerry Beckley, who was a founding member and frequent hit song contributor to the 70’s folk rock group, America.

Kirk Pasich at Blue Élan is always pushing the envelope with new ideas. In this new project, we are working with the label’s newer artists, to cover a selection of Gerry’s classic songs in a new compilation. Three singles have already emerged featuring Chelsea Williams on “Sister Golden Hair”; Roan Yellowthorn on “Daisy Jane”; and Mary Scholz on “Only In Your Heart.”

The singles, leading to the whole record, are set to be produced fully remotely - with all parties working on independent recording work stations to collaborate in the time of corona. I look forward to sharing these singles as they get released.
